Move
to the head of the pack by avoiding these common interview slips:
- Not
knowing enough about the company, its products, the industry
or the present market conditions in which it operates.
- Inappropriate
dress and/or attitude. prepare yourself for the interview. Think
about the position you are applying for, research the company,
and try to find out something about the person who is interviewing
you(if possible).
- Arriving
late. (Always make it a point to arrive at least 10 minutes
prior to the interview).
- Not
shaking hands firmly with the interviewer, and not maintaining
regular eye contact with the interviewer during the course of
the interview.
- Misrepresenting
your skills and experience. (Remember, you are looking for the
right fit, as well as the interviewer.) Bring a copy of your
c.v. to have in front of you so you can discuss your experience
more fully.
- Not
appearing enthusiastic about the position. Appearing a bit nervous
is in most cases more acceptablethan appearing aloof and indifferent.
